BNP expects change in govt in new year

BNP senior leader Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain yesterday expressed the expectation that a new government will come to power through a fair election in Bangla New Year.

"We want to vow on the first day of New Year that we'll get BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia released from jail and establish a people's government through the election under a nonparty neutral interim government in the new year," he said while addressing a programme at BNP's Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka.

BNP's cultural wing Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas) organised the programme to celebrate Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year 1425.

Mosharraf, a BNP standing committee member, said, "Let the new year be the year of victory of truth against falsehood and the year of establishing a government under the leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia."

He called on the party men to fight against the evil forces and hoped that the bright days will come soon.

BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas, chairperson's adviser Gazi Mazharul Anwar, cultural affairs secretary Aashrafuddin Ahmed Ujjal, Sramik Dal president Anwar Hossain and Mahila Dal general secretary Sultana Ahmed were also present on the occasion.
