Fakhrul calls for sanction on Myanmar

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today urged the government to push for a sanction on Myanmar to stop violence against the Rohingya community.

“If you (govt) talk about a sanction, only then Myanmar will be forced to stop the genocide and take back its Rohingyas,” Fakhrul said while addressing a programme in Dhaka this afternoon.

He also criticised Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she has sought end to the Rohingya crisis by establishing a safe zone in Myanmar under the supervision of the United Nations.

“We are not clear about the safe zone. Does the prime minister want to establish another Palestine like area?” he said.
