The BNP has been taking preparations for holding a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan to mark the National Revolution and Solidarity Day though the party is yet to get permission from the authorities concerned to hold the rally.

The party’s Chairperson Khaleda Zia will address the rally, said party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

“We want to hold the rally in a disciplined and peaceful manner. Our party Chairperson Khaleda Zia will be present there as the chief guest,” he said at a press briefing at the party’s Nayapaltan headquarters today.

Earlier on Tuesday, BNP announced to hold the rally on November 8. On Monday, the party said it deferred the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan to November 11 due to the ongoing 63rd CPA conference.

Fakhrul said the party is yet to get permission but hopes that it will get the permission in time.

The BNP leader held meeting with the front and associate bodies of the party to make the programme successful.

“We could not observe National Revolution and Solidarity Day properly. We were denied permission to hold the rally due to Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. We hope that we will be given permission in due time,” he said.
