BNP leader Shamsuzzaman Dudu has been sued for allegedly giving death threats to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi, joint secretary of Jubo League’s central committee, filed the case against Dudu with the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Md Baki Billah in Dhaka.

In the complaint, Mohiuddin alleged that Shamsuzzaman threatened to kill the prime minister during a recent talk-show titled ‘Raj Kahon’ at Ekattor Television yesterday (September 18) saying that Sheikh Hasina would be ousted like Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The complainant came to know about the threat while the DBC Television was broadcasting the news yesterday, Mohiuddin said in the petition.

Meanwhile, our Kushtia correspondent reports that Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), a front organisation of ruling Awami League, vandalized the house of the BNP leader in Chuadanga, where he was a lawmaker from 1996-2001, last night.

The attack was carried out after the “derogatory” remark made by the BNP leader aired in the television.

Kanailal Sarker, additional superintendent of police in Chuadanga confirmed the incident.

When contacted, BCL Chuadanga district unit general secretary Zanif Hasan Herok said, they will not let Dudu enter the district.
