BNP today welcomed newly appointed Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam’s pledge to make the administration neutral and efficient.

At a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, Asaduzzaman Ripon, the party’s spokesperson, said that there is no difference between the newly appointed public administration minister and BNP as both “want public servants out from politics”.

Ashraf, in his first working day at the public ministry yesterday, directed his ministry officials to be neutral and efficient and said that the administration will be kept out from politicisation.

“We believe that civil servants, wherever they are posted, should work with efficiency and neutrality,” he said while talking to journalists after joining his ministry.

Today, the BNP leader Ripon also said his party men inside different prisons now are worried over the recent attack on a pro-BNP municipality mayor.

He demanded that the government ensure safety of the BNP leaders and activists.
