BNP extends member collection campaign

BNP today extended time limit to a month for its member collection campaign to achieve the target of recruiting around a crore of people ahead of the upcoming general election to be held in 2019.

On July 1, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia inaugurated the party's two-month long new member recruiting drive across the country, setting up a target to collect around one core new members across the country by September 1, Rizvi Ahmed, senior joint secretary general of the party, said.

“We couldn’t reach the target on various grounds including countrywide natural disaster. So, we have decided to extend the time limit of the campaign till October 1,” Rizvi made the announcement at a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan headquarters.

According to BNP central office, the party has so far sold 60.56 lakh membership forms among people and earned over Tk six crore by selling the forms at Tk 10 each.
