BNP didn’t take lesson from 1/11: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said his party's arch-rival BNP did not take lesson from the black chapter of the one eleven changeover in 2007.

"We took lesson from the one eleven and we fear the recurrence of such situation as BNP didn’t take lesson from there," Quader expressed the doubt while talking to reporters at the party chief Sheikh Hasina's Dhanmondi office in Dhaka this noon.

BNP is well-informed about its consequence in the upcoming general election, Quader said adding that the party is now trying to catch fish in troubled water through hatching “evil efforts”.

"I can say, the one eleven will not reappear in the country ever and we will not allow the BNP to meet its evil desire," Quader also road transport and bridges minister said.

About mayoral runner in the Dhaka North City Corporation election, Quader said the party's nomination board will select the candidate through a meeting to be held on January 16.

Responding to a query about the party's eagerness in selecting candidates from businessmen in polls, the Awami League leader said, "It’s a political strategy. Why? Can't a politician run  business?"
