BNP for army at every polling centres

BNP today voiced for army deployment at every polling centres during the city corporations polls to ensure free and fair voting.

“We urge the Election Commission to deploy army at all polling centres with magistrative power,” Asaduzzaman Ripon, BNP’s secretary for international affairs, said.

“This will ensure free and fair voting atmosphere,” he said while speaking at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan headquarters in Dhaka.

He indicated the recent attacks on BNP chief Khaleda Zia and alleged that the government was trying to engage in dirty politics ahead of April 28 city polls.

“Whenever BNP chief Khaleda Zia is getting out, she is being attacked. The attackers have been photographed by the media. They should be brought to justice,” he said.

“Violence in increasing day by day centering the city polls. That is why we need army deployment at all polling stations to ensure smooth voting,” he said.

He also urged the government to stray from dirty politics and engage in good politics.
