Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain today said the chief justice insulted Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the 16th amendment verdict.

“I have to say with great sorrow that the chief justice has made many unconstitutional and immoral comments in his judgement,” he said after a programme in Madaripur.

“Please, review the unexpected observations made in the verdict. Judicial proceedings are not possible by hurting the people. If the judicial system is in crisis of faith, it falls in a storming danger,” he said.

The LGRD minister said this while speaking to a public meeting organised on the occasion of inaugurating Sheikh Hasina Road at Shibchar in Madaripur.

“We are most humbly and respectfully requesting you [judges] to reconsider the unexpected issues mentioned in the verdict, as the people of Bangladesh don’t want the judiciary to be damaged. The judiciary is last resort of the people,” Khandker Mosharraf.
