AL nominates SMT Zaman for Bogura-6

Ruling Awami League has nominated SMT Zaman to contest in the by-polls of Bogura-6 where BNP’s Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was initially elected in the national election.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the party held at Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s official Gonobhaban residence this evening, chaired by the premier.

The meeting also decided on the nomination of candidates for the upazila parishad elections to remainder of upazila parishads that will enter in the fifth phase of voting.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was elected from the Bogura-6 constituency in the December 30 general elections held in 2018.

However, Fakhrul declined to swear in as a lawmaker. Eventually, the seat fell vacant and has been slated to undergo a by-polls election to fill the vacancy.
