Some people under the banner of "Asol BNP" (literally meaning real BNP), today made another attempt to occupy the Naya Paltan central office of BNP and failed in the face of chase.

The group of around 20 to 30 activists of "Asol BNP" was chased away by the activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), student front of BNP, around 3:30pm, witnesses said.

The "Asol BNP" activists, carrying a banner with “Showdown of Revolution” written on it, brought out a procession from in front of Jonaki Cinema Hall at Naya Paltan and marched towards BNP’s central office.

A group of JCD activists led by General Secretary Musfiqur Rahman Lelin, equipped with sticks, chased the ‘Asol BNP’ activists when they came close to the BNP office.

Activists of the ‘Asol BNP’ were forced to flee the spot and several of its activists were injured in the incident.

Rafiqul Islam, office-in-charge of Paltan Police Station, confirmed the incident saying that activists of ‘Asol BNP’ led by its convener Kamrul Islam Nasim were chased by the activists of Khaleda Zia-led BNP.

An activist of Asol BNP was injured in the incident, the OC said.

On January 2, 2016, a clash broke out between the activists of BNP and ‘Asol BNP’ after some activists of the latter made an unsuccessful attempt to occupy the office.

Again on January 17, some people under the banner of ‘Asol BNP’ made a similar attempt to enter the Naya Paltan central office of the BNP but failed once again.
