Annisul gets clock, hilsa for Khokon

Awami League tent candidates for both halves of Dhaka city corporations elections secured their polls-symbol today.

     - Bus for Tabith, mug for Mirza Abbas

Contestant for Dhaka south, Annisul Huq, was given the table clock while his party cohort and mayor hopeful for north Sayeed Khokon got the hilsa.

On the other hand, BNP contender for Dhaka north Tabith Awal was given bus while Mirza Abbas, the party’s hopeful for south, mug as polls-symbol this morning.

Returning Officers Shah Alam allocated the symbols to the candidates for mayor aspirants of Dhaka north and Mihir Sarwar Morshed for hopefuls of Dhaka south.

candidate who secured the polls-symbol in the end through lottery.

One Iqbal collected the allotted polls-symbol for Annisul from the Election Commission office concerned while Tabith Awal collected his symbol himself.

After securing the demanding polls-symbol hilsa, Sayeed Khokon said the polls-sign was the legacy of his father – Mohammad Hanif who was a Dhaka’s mayor for a long time.

Hilsa was my father’s electoral symbol and I got it as electoral tradition. I am happy with that symbol,” he told reporters.

Six mayoral candidates including Mirza Abbas claimed elephant for their electoral symbol. Abbas, in the end, got mug after Advocate Sanaullah Miah vied for him.

POLLS-SIGN OF OTHER CANDIDATES

Saifuddin Milon, Jatiya Party tent mayor hopeful for Dhaka south, secured sofa as his electoral symbol for the forthcoming city polls.

For Dhaka south, BNP foreign affairs secretary Asaduzzaman Ripon secured orange, independent candidate Golam Mawla Roni got ring.

For Dhaka north, Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh leader Mahi B Chowdhury was given eagle, Jatiya Party leader Bahauddin Ahmed charka and Gono Sanghati Andolan’s Junaid Abdur Rahim Saki telescope.

Also, Communist Party of Bangladesh-backed Abdul Al Kafi got elephant and Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal candidate Nader Chowdhury peacock to contest for the Dhaka north.
