Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said that his party will accept people’s mandate if it is defeated in the upcoming parliamentary election to be held in January, 2019.

“Sheikh Hasina will not influence voters even if she is defeated in the next general election. She does not hold such mentality to hang on to power forcibly,” Quader said while addressing a programme at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University.

All-out cooperation will be extended to the Election Commission for holding a free, fair and credible election if it remains under the supervision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina: Quader

Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said that all-out cooperation will be extended to the Election Commission for holding a free, fair and neutral election if it remains under the supervision of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Referring to the question raised from different quarters over the impartiality of the next general election, the AL leader said the ruling party across the world always holds power in arranging the national polls.

“I can tell you (people) that the next general election must be held in an impartial and credible manner under the present election commission,” he added.

Master Da Surja Sen Hall Alumni Association organised the programme marking its golden jubilee.
