Police official closed as wife brings charge

A top official of river police was closed following filing of a complaint by his first wife on Saturday night.
The authorities concerned also started a departmental investigation against ASP Ripon Kumar Madak.
Topa Biswas, first wife of Ripon, son of Devendranath of Sherpur district, said the husband beat her up when she went to meet him at Chandpur River Police Outpost on Saturday afternoon. At one stage, Ripon left the spot without his wife.
Following this, Topa went to meet the Chandpur Police Superintendent. As he was not present at that time, she went to Chandpur Model Police Station on Saturday night.
In presence of the officer in-charge (OC) Abdul Kayum, Topa told the journalists that she was married to Ripon in November 2006.
Ripon joined Bangladesh Civil Service as police while she got job at a government primary school in Gopalganj district.
During this time, Ripon took Tk 20 lakh from Topa, she claimed.
Without informing her, Ripon also married another woman, Biva, said Topa showing a few documents in this regard.
Chandpur Additional Police Superintendent Md Kamrul Islam said, a departmental investigation was going on against Ripon in this connection.
OC Abdul Kayum Chandpur Model Police said they also received a written complaint from Topa.
