Physician arrested on charges of raping chamber assistant in Pirojpur

Police arrested a physician last night on charges of raping his personal chamber assistant in Pirojpur on Wednesday afternoon.

The physician, identified as Mohammad Shah Alam (55), was arrested following a case filed against him under Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Pirojpur Sadar Police Station, reports our correspondent quoting police.

According to the case statement, the victim, due to financial hardship, had taken a job at the personal chamber of MBBS doctor Mohammad Shah Alam two weeks ago.

"On Wednesday afternoon, finding on one in the chamber, Dr Shah Alam took the advantage and raped the victim there. Dr Shah Alam also vandalised the victim's mobile phone when she tried to capture the physician's photo following the incident," the case statement said.

Md Nurul Islam Badal, officer-in-charge (OC) of Pirojpur Sadar Police Station, said the victim was sent to the office of Pirojpur Civil Surgeon for medical tests.

He added that the arrested physician was also sent to the court.
