Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Sunday said the government will take initiatives to provide pension facilities for the employees of the private sector from the next budget.

The minister came up with the remark while addressing a pre-budget discussion with non-gevernment organisation (NGO) representatives at his secretariat office in the capital.

The government will first request and give directives to the prominent private sector organisations to take steps in this regard, Muhith replied when journalists asked how the government will move the matter forward.

If the organisations do not comply with the directives, then the government would enact a new law to ensure the pension facilities for the private sector employees, the minister added.
