Patuakhali BNP leader stabbed dead

A local BNP leader in Patuakhali was stabbed to death this afternoon over previous feud regarding land dispute, police say.

The deceased, Monirul Islam Talukder, 40, was general secretary of BNP Chakamoiya union under Kalapara upazila, reports our Patuakhali correspondent.

Around four unidentified men attacked and stabbed Monirul critically around 4:00pm on his way to Kachupatra market in Barguna’s Amtali upazila, said Md Azizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kalapara Police Station.

Hearing his scream, locals rushed to the spot and whisked him off to Amtali Upazila Health Complex, the OC added.

The BNP leader was pronounced dead at 5:15pm.
