Pakistan national held 220 cartons of cigarettes

A Pakistani national was apprehended today with 220 cartons of foreign cigarettes at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The detainee, Md Ismail, 35, landed at the airport in Qatar Airways flight from Doha around 5:00am, said Umme Nahida Akter, assistant director of customs intelligence.

“Customs officials challenged him after he was spotted with suspicious behaviour while passing through the green channel,” she said.

A total of 220 cartons of Esse Special Gold cigarette was found in his possession, she added.

Earlier on Sunday, customs intelligence also seized 100 cartons of Benson & Hedges and Esse Special Gold brands foreign cigarette.
