Outlaw leader killed in Kushtia

The bullet-hit body of a regional leader of outlawed New Biplobi Communist Party (NBCP) was found in Khoksa upazila of Kushtia early today.

The deceased was identified as Akram Ali alias Bhadu, known as Bhadu dakat, 40, a resident of Khoksa upazila in the district, reports our Kushtia correspondent.

He was a close cohort of one of the founders of NBCP Akdil Hossain alias Buro, killed in a “shootout” with police on February 1, 2008.

A patrolling team of police found a body lying on a road at Bashoa village around 4:30am, Motiar Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khoksa Police Station said.

Later police recovered the body of Akram Ali with three bullet holes on his chest, he said. “Akram was into criminal activities including robbery in the areas for last 10 years.”

“He was an accused of at least 10 cases including four for murder in Kustia, Rajbari and Jhenaidah.” Bhadu was the prime accused of January 2010 Jhenidah police Sub-inspector Bashar murder case.

However, the reason for the murder could not be ascertained.
