Outlaw held with arms

Police on Tuesday night arrested a member of outlawed Biplobi Communist Party (BCP) and recovered three firearms and ammunitions from his possession at Koardi village in Kalukhali upazila of Rajbari district.
The arrestee, Monir Mondol, 36, son of Idrish Mondol of the village is a top cadre of BCP, said Azizur Rahman, officer in-charge (OC) of Kalukhali police station.
Acting on a tip off, a team of the police station raided the house of Monir at about 8:30pm on Tuesday and arrested him, he said.
On his confessional statement, police later searched the house and recovered one shutter gun, two pipe guns, three bullets and two machetes from a hidden place.
Police said, Monir, accused in two extortion cases filed with Kalukhali police, had been involved with the outfit for several years and working under BCP leader Arzoo Ali of the area.
Arzoo is accused in several murder and extortion cases.
A case was filed with Kalukhali police station. The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Rajbari sent the outlaw to jail yesterday.
