Rizvi on fresh remand

A Dhaka court today granted a fresh two-day remand for BNP Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed in an arson case filed with Mirpur Police Station.

Rizvi has been on remand in several phases in connection with different cases since his arrest on January 31.

Metropolitan Magistrate Shamsul Arefin passed the remand order this afternoon.

The BNP leader was produced before the court on completion of a four-day remand in another arson case filed with Mohammadpur Police Station.

Rafiqul Islam, a sub-inspector of Mirpur Police Station, sought a seven-day remand for him in the case filed for arson attack on a vehicle near Sony Cinema Hall in Mirpur-2 on January 25.
