Rail communication of Dhaka with Chittagong and Sylhet has been disrupted following a train derailment in Brahmanbaria this morning.

Six bogies of Dhaka-bound Upokul Express from Noakhali veered off the tracks near Brahmanbaria Railway Station around 11:00am, a Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports quoting local stationmaster M Mohidur Rahman.

A rescue train from Akhaura will reach the spot immediately and salvage the derailed bogies, the stationmaster said.

However, the derailment has not halted the train service completely as trains on the routes are using an alternative line to reach their destinations.
