Users connecting an iPhone to a PC, for example to copy photos to the computer, sometimes encounter a problem: The device simply doesn't appear in the Windows sidebar.

This may be due to autoplay being turned off, which can easily happen by accident.

A few taps in the Control Panel are required to make the phone ask which action to perform when it is plugged into a Windows 7 computer, such as transferring images or playing files.

Under "AutoPlay" scroll to the bottom and set the desired action for the iPhone. If you select "Ask me every time", the question box is displayed each time you plug in the iPhone, so you can then choose the option you want.
