Covid-19: 25 die, 1,071 infected, 737 recover in 24 hours

Twenty-five people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of deaths has now reached 7,781 and the death rate stands at 1.49 percent.

At least 1,071 new infections were recorded in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 5,22,453, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 8.29 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 15.56 percent.

A total of 12,920 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).

At least 737 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 4,66,801 and the recovery rate at 89.35 percent.

Among the 25 deceased, 17 were men and eight were women. Of them, two were between 41-50 years old, six were within 51-60, and 17 were above 60 years old, added the release.
