Twenty Chinese employees have resumed work at the Payra Thermal Power Plant project in Patuakhali after 14 days of being quarantined.

Of them, 18 joined yesterday and rest were set to join this morning, our Patuakhali correspondent reports quoting power plant officials.

The Chinese workers landed in Bangladesh on January 30 and had been kept in an isolated building, Dr Chinmay Haldar, Upazila Medical Officer of Kalapara, said.

They were allowed to join work as no symptom of coronavirus infection was found in them, the doctor said.

The Chinese workers went through a screening test at the airport when they landed in Bangladesh after their vacation, said a power plant official seeking anonymity.

In total, 2,700 Chinese nationals work at the coal-fired power plant situated in Kalapara of Patuakhali.
