BNP Vice-Chairman Sadeque Hossain Khoka has ruled out any possibility of contesting the upcoming elections to Dhaka city corporations.

“I was the longest serving mayor of the unified Dhaka City Corporation. How come I can contest the bifurcated city corporation polls,” Khoka, now in the US for treatment, told The Daily Star over phone today.

Besides, the former DCC mayor said his cancer treatment is going on in the USA. “Even, I am not fit physically for running in the elections.”

“Considering all the matters I can tell you that it is out of question for me to contest the election from any part of the city,” Khoka added.

He said if his party backs any candidates in the city corporations he will work for them from his position.
