'Doob' to represent Bangladesh in the Academy Awards

Between the two films, Komola Rocket and Doob, Oscar Bangladesh Committee selected Mostofa Sarwar Farooki's Doob for a nomination in the Foreign Language Film Award category in the Oscars.

At a press conference yesterday, hosted by the Bangladesh Federation of Film Societies, announcements were made amidst guests namely Mostafa Sarwar Farooki, actor Nusrat Imrose Tisha, producer Abdul Aziz, Chairperson of Oscar Bangladesh Committee, Habibur Rahman Khan, Oscar Bangladesh Committee members, Shamim Akhtar, Abu Musa Debu, President of Bangladesh Film Directors Association, Mushfiqur Rahman Gulzar, Golam Rabbany Biplob and many more.

“This is definitely a huge deal!” says Mostafa Sarwar Farooki. “I am excited to be representing Bangladesh. Doob is extremely close to my heart and I really hope that the film is loved and appreciated at the Oscars.”

“We have to keep in mind quite a few criteria before choosing a film for an Oscar nomination,” says Chairperson of Oscar Bangladesh Committee, Habibur Rahman Khan. “We have been extremely careful while selecting Doob.”
