Narayanganj govt official suspended for holding wedding ceremony amid lockdown

A government official of Narayanganj's Sonargaon upazila was suspended from duties for holding his wedding ceremony amid the ongoing lockdown.

The official -- Shaheen Kabir, family planning inspector of Aminpur Union of the upazila -- was suspended last night through a mail signed by Joint Secretary Md Shariful Islam, the director of Dhaka divisional family planning department.

Md Saidul Islam, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Sonargaon confirmed it to our Narayanganj correspondent.

On April 7, Shaheen went to Sonmandi union of Sonargaon along with 70 members of his groom's party to get married.

Many other guests from around the district attended the ceremony, reports our correspondent.

The next day Shaheen was fined Tk 10 thousand by the local authorities for breaking the rules of lockdown, the UNO added.
