Bullet-hit body recovered in Rajshahi, police say

Cops rescue 2 people with bullet wounds; one of them claims they were shot by police after detention

Police said they recovered a bullet-hit body of a youth and also rescued two people with bullet wounds in Rajshahi city early today.

However, one of the injured victims Sabuj, who was undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH), claimed that they were shot in Bhadra-Jamalpur area around 4:45am after police detained them, which the law enforcers denied.

On information by the locals, police recovered the bullet-hid body of a youth in Bhadra-Jamalpur area, Iftekhar Alam, assistant commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, told our Rajshahi correspondent.

Locals identified the deceased as Ripan, 25, hailing from Shyampur in Rajshahi who suffered from bullet wounds in his chest and died on the spot.

The two other rescued were, Sabuj and Ashif Islam Shuvan hailing from Mirzapur and Shastikala in the city respectively. Both suffered bullet wounds in their legs and were undergoing treatment at RMCH.

Asked, AC Iftekhar denied the allegation brought against the law enforcers.
