34-year-old man who died at Shariatpur tested negative for coronavirus

A 34-year-old man who died at Shariatpur Sadar Hospital on April 8, has tested negative for coronavirus from the samples collected by the IEDCR.

A report from the IEDCR last night confirmed that the patient was not infected with coronavirus, Dr Munir Ahmed Khan, superintendent of Shariatpur Sadar Hospital, told The Daily Star.

"The man, hailing from Kolargaon village under Naria upazila, was admitted to the isolation ward with severe breathing problems on April 7. He died on April 8," he said.

Soon after the death, the local administration put some 86 people of 18 families of Kolargaon area of Naria upazila under home quarantine. Those 18 families were released from the home quarantine yesterday, as the man was not infected with coronavirus according to the IEDCR.
