The bullet-hit bodies of two alleged BNP men were found in Jhenidah Sadar upazila this morning.

Locals found the bodies of Polash Hossain, 25, and Dulal Hossain, 24, from a lentil field around 7:00am, reports our Jhenidah correspondent.

Family members claimed that local Detective Branch of police picked them up on Wednesday and Thursday, which was denied by the detectives.

Jahangir Hossain, office secretary of district BNP unit, confirmed that Polash and Dulal were activists of his party. Polash’s father Golam Mostafa is councilor of ward No. 8 of Jhenidah pourashabha.

On information, police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital morgue, said Anwar Hossain, a sub-inspector of Jhenidah Sadar Police Station.

Both the bodies bore marks of bullet injuries in their ears and also some beating marks on their hands, he said.

While talking to our correspondent, Alal Hossain said his brother Dulal was picked up by DB police Wednesday evening from Chuadanga bus stand of Jhenidah district town while relatives of Polash claimed that detectives picked him up around 5:00pm Thursday.

Denying the allegation, Rafikul Islam, in-charge of DB police in Jhenida, said, “We are not involved with this incident”.

BNP leader Jahangir claimed that the law enforcers gunned them down so that no BNP activists would dare to bring out any rally in the town.

Ex-BNP lawmaker and President of Jhenidah district unit Moshiur Rahman condemned the killings.
