Oishee charged with killing parents

Detectives today pressed charges against Oishee Rahman for killing her parents -- Special Branch of Police inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and Swapna Rahman.

Three others -- domestic helper Khadiza Akter Sumi and Oishee’s two friends Asaduzzaman Jony and Mizanur Rahman Roni – were also charged with the murder.

The couple’s bodies were recovered from their Chamelibagh residence in the capital in August last year.

DB Inspector Abul Khair Matubbar, who carried out the investigation, submitted two separate charge sheets -- one against Oishee, Jony and Roni; while another against Sumi – before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Dhaka.

According to the charge sheets, Oishee is the lone accused of killing her parents while Jony and Roni were charge with instigating and giving her shelter respectively.

Sumi was charged with assisting Oishee to hide the bodies.

The charge sheet against Sumi was submitted before the court separately as she is now under 18-year-old and her trial will be held at a juvenile court.

On January 19, a Dhaka court sent Oishee to jail after rejecting her bail for the fourth time.

After Oishee had surrendered to Paltan Police Station the following day of the murder, detectives picked up the three for their involvement with the incident.
