Obaidul Huq's birth anniversary today

Today is the 103th birth anniversary of veteran journalist of the country Obaidul Huq.

He got the Ekushey Padak in 1983 and Bangla Academy Award in 1964.

He also achieved UNICEF Gold Medal, Abdus Salam Gold Medel, Zahur Hossain Gold Medal, Kazi Mahbubullah and Begum Zebunnessa Trust Gold Medal.

Obaidul was the first Bengali Muslim to make a feature film, "Dukkhe Jader Jibon Gora," in 1946, said a press release.

He joined the Pakistan Observer in 1951 as joint editor and after the independence of Bangladesh he joined The Bangladesh Observer as the editor. Later, he worked as a columnist and regular contributor to different dailies and his writings became very popular among the readers.

Obaidul, who was born in 1911 in Feni, died at the age of 96 on October 13, 2007.
