"Showcase Bangladesh" is going to be held in Malaysia for the sixth time in December.

In addition to finding new export markets for domestic products, Bangladesh's development progress, investment environment and potential will be highlighted in this event.

Bangladesh Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industries (BMCCI) in collaboration with Bangladesh High Commission is organising "Showcase Bangladesh".

However, the date of the event has not yet been finalised.

At a coordination meeting held at the conference hall of the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur on Friday (September 30, 2022), the organisers said that various renowned Bangladeshi organisations and professionals from different sectors will participate in the event.

They said Bangladesh's goal will be to create opportunities for export of various products. Besides, Bangladesh will be focused as an investment destination in the international arena.

The organisers hope that this timely initiative will further establish Bangladesh as a brand in the world market.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia Golam Sarwar has hoped that the signing of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Bangladesh and Malaysia will be paved through "Showcase Bangladesh".

Speaking as the chairman of the coordination meeting, the High Commissioner said 93 Bangladeshi products are currently getting duty-free benefits in the Malaysian market, a long-time trusted friend and business partner of Bangladesh. If Malaysia removes tariff and non-tariff barriers, the export of Bangladeshi products there will increase a lot.

"There is a huge demand for jute products, spices, leather and leather goods, medicines, potatoes, vegetables, ceramic tableware, frozen fish, readymade garments, knitwear, textiles and halal food products in the Malaysian market," he added.

Syed Almas Kabir, president of BMCCI, said, "Showcase Bangladesh and Showcase Malaysia are signature events of Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry which are held every year in Bangladesh or Malaysia. We encourage Malaysian investment as well as Bangladeshi businessmen to invest in Malaysia."
