Bangladeshi-origin Fahmida in Pulitzer winning team for illustrated reporting

Originally from Bangladesh and now living in Seattle, USA, illustrator and author Fahmida Azim has been named as part of the Pulitzer winning team for Illustrated Reporting and Commentary for their work in Insider.

Other than Fahmida, the winning team includes Anthony Del Col, Josh Adams and Walt Hickey of Insider in New York, according to The Pulitzer Prizes website.

They have been awarded for "using graphic reportage and the comics medium to tell a powerful yet intimate story of the Chinese oppression of the Uyghurs, making the issue accessible to a wider public."

Their reportage "How I escaped a Chinese internment camp" was published on Dec 28, 2021 on Insider.

Fahmida is an illustrator and storyteller and her work centers on themes of identity, culture, and autonomy.
