Thirteen Bangladeshis rescued in the Mediterranean have returned to Dhaka today from Tunisia.

A Turkish Airlines flight carrying the returnees landed at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 1:15pm today, said Shariful Hasan, head of Brac's Migration Program.

All are victims of human trafficking and are currently under the care of the airport immigration for their address verification.

Brac Migration Program with assistance from the Expatriate Welfare Desk is providing all the necessary support including food and water to them.

Among the 13 returnees, nine are from Shariatpur, two from Madaripur, and one each from Chandpur and Cumilla districts.

According to the victims, earlier this year they went to Dubai with visit visas, then from there to Libya and finally to Tunisia. From there, they all crossed the Mediterranean via Tunisia and set out for Italy.
