Oman lifts travel ban on Bangladesh, 17 other countries

Oman has lifted its travel ban on 18 countries, including Bangladesh, effective from 12 noon of September 1, four months after imposing the ban due to the rise in Covid-19 infections.

The ban was lifted following an announcement made by the Oman Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) today on the instruction of the Supreme Committee on Corona Prevention comprising of Medical Response, Public Health Sector and the Royal Oman Police.

Passengers travelling to Oman must take both doses of the coronavirus vaccine approved by the country's health authority and must carry a vaccine certificate with a QR code.

The second dose should not be less than approximately 14 days before the time of arrival.

According to the circular, all Omani citizens, expatriates, Oman visa holders, people who do not need a visa to travel to Oman and who can get a visa upon arrival are allowed to enter the county following the pre-Covid-19 procedure.

Children under the age of 18 are exempted from the requirement to present a PCR certificate and proof of vaccination when traveling to Oman.

The decision to lift the travel ban comes as a huge relief for hundreds of expatriates stranded in these 18 countries, including Bangladesh, India and Pakistan.
