Security should not create distance with people, PM urges SSF

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said her security measures should not create any distance with the people and the Special Security Force (SSF) members should remain careful about it.

She said her all political venture is guided for public welfare. So, members of the special security force have to discharge their duties with utmost professionalism by maintaining balance between security aspects and public expectation.

The Prime Minister said this while addressing the Darbar of SSF members at her office here today marking the 29th Raising Ceremony of the elite force responsible for providing physical security to the heads of the state and the government, government designated important persons.

Sheikh Hasina said she wants to utilize each and every moment in her office for development of the country, welfare of the people and improving the living standard of the countrymen. So every person working with her needed to take extra stress of work.

"But all excess stresses and labour of you and other persons working with me would be fruitful when our effort to build a prosperous nation will come true," she said.

The security forces would also reap the benefit as soon as the country would be developed economically, she added.

The Prime Minister hoped that competent leadership and proper directions would move forward the SSF constantly through their professional devotion, labour and sincerity of the members.

Director General of the SSF Major General Sheikh Mohammad Aman Hasan also spoke on the occasion.

PM's Principal Secretary, Chiefs of three services, Principal Staff Office (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division, IGP, PM's Press Secretary and senior officials of the PMO and SSF were present.

Appreciating the competence, devotion, dutifulness, loyalty and professionalism of the members of the SSF the prime minister hoped that like past the force would continue showing their highest loyalty and professionalism in future.

In this regard the prime minister also hailed the role of the Bangladesh armed forces saying they are working very efficiently with the security forces of other countries in the United Nations.

Considering its role of the Bangladesh armed forces at home and abroad, she said the force should be modernized, knowledgeable and competent with the science and technology. "In view of this the present government has been taking steps for modernization of the armed forces," she said.

Sheikh Hasina said her government has proved that development of the country is possible if the government works sincerely. She said Bangladesh has become a role model of development before the world through her successful transition against a global economic recession since 2009.

Bangladesh now stands on strong economic base and dignified position, and it was possible out of pragmatic plan of the present government taken in different sector, she said.

The Prime Minister said her government has attached utmost importance to education aimed at alleviating poverty. Over the last six and a half years Bangladesh has showed its outstanding capacity in poverty reduction.

Within the next three and a half years, she said her government has envisaged reducing poverty to 14 to 16 percent and declare Bangladesh as a poverty free country, Bangladesh would not be limited to "low incoming" range.

Next three years would be the time for us to be graduated at least as "middle income" country, she said adding her government is making relentless efforts in this regard.

She said people of Bangladesh have earned independence through a long struggle. "Our goal is to make the independence fruitful and fulfil the expectation of the people for economic prosperity and build Bangladesh as a prosperous nation in South Asia," she said.

The Prime Minister said the SSF members should be careful about the firmness of their character, discipline, honesty, dutifulness as well as humane values with high importance.

After the Darbar, the Prime Minister attended a lunch with SSF members at SSF Officers' Mess.

The SSF DG also presented an artwork to the prime minister at the Darbar.
