No plan to deploy army-led joint force: Minister

State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal today said there is no plan to deploy the army-led joint force to contain the violence of the BNP-led 20-party alliance-enforced countrywide nonstop blockade.

“No such situation has been created, which requires the deployment of the joint forces,” the state minister said.

He came up with the remarks in response to a query on army deployment while talking to reporters at his office at the secretariat this afternoon.

The state minister said Rapid Action Battalion, Border Guard Bangladesh and police are enough for tackling the situation. The situation will be overcome soon, he said.

At least 24 people were killed and scores injured across the country since the beginning of the blockade on January 5.
