3 more ways to beat distraction

If you still haven't gotten to work since last week, then this is my last attempt to help you beat distractions. I hope you see the light.

1. Visualise yourself working. This includes making concrete plans for which task you're going to work on for how long. Being well prepared to do your work usually keeps you from being distracted. Having your mind primed to work on things allows it to focus and concentrate on the work at hand, instead of yielding in purposeless thoughts and activities.

2. Procrastinate till the end date until you can no longer afford to be distracted. This should be dealt with caution. It is only applicable for those who are well equipped to handle stressful and nerve wrecking situations. Nonetheless, nothing gets work done like a deadline.

3. Use the Pomodoro technique. This technique that your time into 25 minutes segments with small breaks in between. After every segment you take a 3-4 minute break and after every 4 segments, a 15 minutes break. Dividing up your work and doing it in short bursts helps you keep your focus and the intensity helps you get the work done quickly. The frequent breaks let your mind rest. This way, you retain information better.
