Young acid victim groaning in pain

Victim of a brutal acid attack on Saturday night, a Class X student is groaning in pain at Sirajganj General Hospital.
Md Alaul Islam, a student of Khandaker Abdul Mozid High School in Ullapara upazila under Sirajganj district, got his face and front part of the body burnt as criminals threw acid when he was asleep at his Char Nondipur village home in Ullapara around 11:30pm Saturday, police and family members said.
He was admitted to Sirajganj General Hospital in a critical condition yesterday morning.
Alaul's eyes and top portion of the face have been badly burnt with acid, said doctors at the hospital.
The victim's brother Abdur Rahman filed a case with Ullapara police station yesterday without mentioning the name of any attacker.
“The police have already started investigating the incident. We will talk with Alaul's friends to find out whether feud with anyone at his school was behind the attack,” said Biman Kumar Das, officer in charge of Ullapara police station.
Md Eusuf Ali Montu, a senior teacher of Khandaker Abdul Mozid High School, said, "Alaul is a brilliant student of our school. He works as a handloom worker to meet his study expenditure. He never clashed with anyone inside the school."
"However, the boy did not come to school since March 28. The school authorities are conducting an inquiry to know if anybody inside the school is connected with the brutal acid attack on him," he added.
