The annual Perseid meteor shower has once again illuminated the night sky, delighting stargazers around the world. The shower, which is caused by Earth passing through the debris left behind by comet 109P/Swift-Tuttle, produces up to 100 meteors per hour at its peak.

This year, the peak occurred between Saturday night and Sunday morning, and skywatchers were treated to a stunning display of shooting stars.

The Perseids are one of the most popular meteor showers of the year, and for good reason. They are bright, plentiful, and easy to see from most parts of the world. If you missed the peak this year, don't worry - the Perseids will be visible again in July and August of 2024.
