After curfew was lifted, Ukrainian people along with Bangladeshis -- currently in Kyiv -- are standing in long queues in front of grocery stores and restaurants to buy food, especially dry ones.

"There's no major food crisis yet, but we are collecting food not only for us but also for the Ukrainian soldiers who are fighting against Russia," Faruk Ahmed, a Bangladeshi-Ukrainian told The Daily Star over phone from the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv.

Since the staple food in Ukraine is bread, there is a shortage of it. But other dry food items like packet soup and fruits are available, Faruk said.

He further said that they made calls to a designated number so that volunteers come and collect the food for soldiers.

"All are giving a portion of their purchased food for the soldiers," he added.
