Wife of Syed Waliullah dead

Anne-Marie Waliullah, widow of the late Syed Waliullah an outstanding novelist and playwright, died in Paris on Friday at the age of 71, according to a delayed message received here from Paris yesterday, reports BSS.

She died of a virus attack leading to heart failure.

A French national whose maiden name was Anne-Marie Louise Rosita Marcel Thibaund was married to Waliullah in October 1955.

Anne-Marie translated Waliullah's celebrated novel 'Lal Shalu' into French entitled 'I' Arbre Sans Racines' which was published in 1961 by the leading Paris firm of publishers Editions Du Seuil. She has recently completed the translation of Waliullah's another novel 'Chander Aabasya' into French under the title 'Black Moon'.

Anne-Marie is survived by her mother, a son-Iraj, a daughter Simine Dufour and two grand children, Tristan-Timor and Margot-Shwati.
