Voice of Business Launches its 5th Issue

Business professionals and BBA/MBA students looking at entering the job market are usually starved for a publication catering to their specific needs. Other than a few university run publications and business sections in papers, there really isn't much choice. The Voice of Business is University of Dhaka's only student run business focused publication. Run by students from across the 8 departments of the Faculty of Business Studies, VOB aims to bridge gap between academic life and the corporate arena for business students.

On the 31st of March, 2013, VOB launched a two day event titled “The Voice of Business Week 2012-2013”, kicking off the ceremony with the launching of the 5th issue of their publication, covering students' and faculty's work as well as interviews with renowned corporate personalities.

Day 1 covered the inauguration ceremony, with chief guests Prof. Dr. Kamal Uddin, (Treasurer, University of Dhaka) and Annisul Huq (former president of FBCCI, former president of BGMEA and chairman of Mohammadi Group) saying words of encouragement to the VOB team and gathered media personnel. The Vice Chancellor of DU, AAMS Arefin Siddique was scheduled to appear as chief guest, but due to unavoidable circumstances, he was unable to do so. In the evening, the session was conducted by Kazi Monirul Kabir, country consultant of Google on the operations of Google in Bangladesh.

On day 2, the theme of Women Empowerment in Bangladesh had multiple speakers from a wide spectrum of people in the field of business. Sara Zaker, deputy manager of Asiatic 360, Rubana Huq, MD of Mohammadi Group, Geeti Ara Safia Chowdhury, CEO of Adcomm Ltd., and Rubaba Dowla, Chief Service Officer of Airtel Bangladesh, were present on Day 2, addressing the topics of formal attire, grooming, and corporate behaviour and communication.

VOB's work is commendable and their initiative in addressing the needs of the business students of the country are appreciable. We hope they continue their run of form and bring us more issues of their publication on a more regular basis.
