Verdict in Biswajit murder case today

biswajit murderA Dhaka Court will deliver the verdict in the sensational Biswajit murder case today.
Twenty-one Chhatra League men of Jagannath University are accused in the case.
Judge ABM Nizamul Haque of the Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 will pronounce the judgment at about 12:00 noon, court sources said.
Biswajit Das, 24, a tailor, was hacked to death in public on his way to his tailoring shop at Shakharibazar in Old Dhaka during the opposition's countrywide road-blockade programme on December 9 last year.
Mistaking him for a blockader, the BCL activists of Jagannath University unit swooped on him in front of Bahadur Shah Park and hacked him with machetes and beat him with iron rods and hockey sticks.
Police pressed charges against the 21 accused on March 5, and the tribunal framed charges against them on June 2.
The trial of the case began on June 14 with the deposition of the complainant, Sub-Inspector Jalal Uddin of Sutrapur Police Station.
Of the accused, eight are now in jail while 13 others are on the run.
The detainees are Mahfuzur Rahman Nahid, GM Rasheduzzaman Shaon, Rafiqul Islam alias Shakil, Emdadul Haque, Kayyum Mia Tipu, AHM Kibria, Saiful Islam and Golam Mustofa.
Nahid, Shaon, Shakil and Emdadul had made confessional statements before magistrates.
The fugitives are Alauddin, Obaidul Quader Tahsin, Imran Hossain, Rajon Talukder, Khondoker Md Yunus Ali, Tarique Bin Zohor, Azizur Rahman, Noor-e-Alam Limon, Al Amin Sheikh, Monirul Haque Pavel, Mosharraf Hossain, Kamrul Hasan and Rafiqul Islam.
