Mahmudullah Riyad and Chris Gayle's St Kitts and Nevis Patriots faced their second defeat in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) as they were beaten by Jamaica Tallawahs by 47 runs.

Chasing a target of 179, Patriots kept losing at regular intervals as Evin Lewis (0), Tom Cooper (7) and Chris Gayle (24) fell within the first six overs.

Mahmudullah came in to bat in the ninth over with the required rate creeping upto 11 an over. In the 12th over, he hit Adam Zampa for a four and a six but the Australian had his revenge in the 14th over, knocking back Mahmudullah's stumps with a googly to end his 15-ball 22-run innings.

Eventually Patriots managed to reach 131 for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs. Earlier, Kennan Lewis and Glenn Phillips gave Jamaica a solid start with the former hitting a quickfire 49 off 24 deliveries while the later struck a 38-ball 41.

Ross Taylor then struck a 35-ball 51 to propel Jamaica to a big score.
