Baki disappoints

Bangladesh's shooting hope Abdullah Hel Baki finished 19th among 44 participants in the 10m air rifle event of the Asian Games at the Jakabaring Shooting Range in Palembang today.

The two-time Commonwealth Games silver medallist scored 618.4 points, which is more than a point above his latest Commonwealth Games score, but barely not enough to see him qualify for the eight-man final round.

The eighth qualifier scored six points more than Baki. Risalatul Islam, Bangladesh's other competitor in this event, finished 29th with 614.3 points.

Baki, who had narrowly missed out on the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games but defended his silver medal in 10m Air Rifle event in Gold Coast in April, said he was disappointed with his performance as he said he scored at least seven points more in training regularly.
