Sheikh Russel KC are looking forward to celebrating their maiden  title of Bangladesh Premier League when the Federation and Independence Cup winners take on former champions Sheikh Jamal DC in their penultimate round match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.
Sheikh Russel are just one point away from the title and are determined to earn their required point from this game.
“We don't want to wait for the last match, rather we want to celebrate the triumph tomorrow (Thursday) by beating Sheikh Jamal,” said a confident Sheikh Russel coach Maruful Haque yesterday.
Having played the same number of matches, Sheikh Russel (32 points) have four points' lead over Sheikh Jamal (28 points), whose only can only wil the title if they win both their matches while Sheikh Russel lose today's match and draw the last.
“We know we are far behind in the title race but we want to do our job by winning both of our fixtures and then hope that Sheikh Russel drop points against Feni Soccer, who beat us 2-1 recently,” said Sheikh Jamal captain Ariful Islam.
However, Sheikh Jamal have not beaten Sheikh Russel in their three meetings this season. The Dhanmondi-based had to be content with runners-up trophies in the two Cup tournaments after losing to Sheikh Russel KC on both occasions.
Sheikh Jamal may miss in-form striker Sunday Chizoba and winger Shakil Ahmed while Sheikh Russel have such no problems.
