Shootout At Wadala

Plot: 'Shootout at Wadala' is the sequel to 2007's block-buster hit 'Shootout at Lokhandwala'. Set in Mumbai during the 80's the movie centres around the crime world's tussle with the Mumbai police. It is an adaptation of S. Hussain Zaidi's book 'Dongri to Dubai'.
Review: Sanjay Gupta has yet again churned out another exhilarating gangster period movie for the fans of 70's and 80's film noir. He is a well known Quentin Tarantino fan and it can be seen throughout all of his more recent gangster dramas. This time around we can sense a bit of Guy Ritchie-esque approach to the movie.
John Abraham delivers a brilliant performance playing the role of Mafia lord Manya Surve; he was able to immerse himself completely with the character and managed to deliver a more mature and realistic performance than he has been previously known for.
The movie was true to its core and was not shameful about explicitly portraying how sex and violence is a big part of the Mafia world. All the supporting cast was on par; they had well-defined roles, with the particularly impressive performance from Manoj Bajpai who plays the role of Zubair Imtiaz Haskar.
The few misses of the film would have to be its music, the forced upon item numbers; though it helps sell tickets, it did very little for the movie itself. The “over the top” loud dialogues may have set the tone of the movie, however, it would have been better if a bit more subtlety was put in use to take this great movie to the heights of 'Vaastav' as an all time great gangster drama.
